Fortnight ago at Klub Mono, Father did announce himself to be doing ol' deKlinik stuff "beach/shag/blue eyed". And turned up at gig with one -1- seven that fullfilled cravings. W'happend?
Well, this goes back a long time...deKlinik of Oslo was launched fall 2000 as 'rhythm&soul club' and had steady row of 'soul inspectors' checking on Northern purity. Which at least Father neither could or would comply to. Could not, as far as his stock of Northern sevens was rather on the meagre. Would not, as he found discant,tin-trumpet Northern as of insufficient groove for club dancing. But Father collected US 60s garage 20 years earlier, and quite a few of these singles had soul'ish flips that were even appreciated on to NS LP samplers. So on they were. Did they stand the test? Oh well, maybe not...recall one inspector bleating 'kviiit sjiiit' (most derog. 'whytee shytee') which fortunately floor did not respond to. Referring to the music, he still stumbled on to a point: floor was remarkable bleached. In fact, we had dance academy classes coming from posh uptown, to try out what suspiciously looked like fox-trot to us (like couples 0:25 on)

Turned out that 'shagging' had different meanings in Brit English vs.east Dixie states of Virginia and Carolinas... Knowing most superficially of 'beach music' scene, Father related to Paul Weller's overhaul of gen.Johnson's disco hit. Didn't do things better as with the inspectors, when Disco rather than Weller version was spun.

When deKlinik folded in 03 Father packed down singles used, for a rainy day. Like, 'I know where they are,
it's just to reach out for them'. Well, they weren't. Have no clue to where they may be gone.
And that, children, is how it came to be that Father turned up with one sole blue eyed at Klub Mono.
