As for gigs at Palace/Oslo and Diskoteket/Trondheim this
fall, Yours humbly admits having used (too?) well known
tunes from Internationalen last spring. Just scroll
back & see. A few newies belowe, 'though...
Rather we should have Son revealing his cover ups...
esp. them early, rougher Sledges' demoes on totally
impossible US blue Atco 78-79 played at Trondheim.
Sisters should well have been over at Cotillion by 78?
Story behind?
As some of you have noticed, Father spins disco sevens
only. OK, he might bring the lonely pee twelver (vinyl
record, that is), but it is Son that cares for them larger
Lefser. How come? Father might not be Paradise
Garage remixes' biggest fan...quarters of hours of bongo,
mango & conga 'fore reaching actual SONG...how about
some rather neat & lean?
Well, you shouldn't need to throw them soul 12"ers
after him, but as these haven't been bulk traded since
mid 90s and that's how Father always have been
collecting (" lucky if one in a dozen"), no wonder he ends
up with smaller sized alternatives (we're still talking vinyl
...records, for Heaven's sake).
How about sweepin' disco bass, to keep floor steppin'?
Admittedly, deepest drone may be lost on sevens. But
still there are lotsa bass goodies to lift from those little
imps. Need fresh needles that dare go deep in grooves'
troughs, while at same time apply max. pick up weight.
Sevens then may skid, do place paper rec.envelope on
turntable to prevent. Turn equalizer down on recordings
up to 81, to avoid "drinking youghurt with a straw"-
phenomenon. Later recordings are 'combed' and ok.
This apply, only if you are willing to squeeze disco
qualities out of your late 70s soul sevens. If platters are
too rare, maybe not after all?
